When a team of villains captured oncologist Dr. Lauren Akers, only one person could stop them: Super Aiden.

The 7-year-old spent his day fighting bad guys, rescuing people, and putting out an airplane fire. His mom was not surprised by her son’s wish. “He didn’t let cancer beat him,” she said, “He was a hero for real. It makes sense to be doing what we’re doing for him.”

The teen and her family took a side trip to The National September 11 Memorial and Museum, which was solemnly emotional. “Even though my hand is frozen,” Jennifer said, “it’s been good.”

Cara Mund made North Dakota history when she was crowned Miss America. Mund, who grew up in Bismarck, spent much of her childhood devoting time to philanthropy. At age 14, she started “Make-A-Wish Passion with Fashion,” an annual fashion show that has raised more than $76,000 to grant wishes for kids across North Dakota.
