Phoenix (July 2, 2018) – Joanne, an inflight crewmember at JetBlue, began her in-flight ritual as she would any of the hundreds before—but today would be different. Shortly after take-off Joanne met Jimmy, a teenager on his wish trip to Turks & Caicos, and his family. Inspired by Jimmy’s story and his entire family’s enthusiasm, Joanne took it upon herself to make this flight one Jimmy would never forget. By the time the plane landed, the entire cabin joined in celebrating Jimmy’s triumph over his battle with cancer, and his wish coming true.
After an exciting trip with his family, Jimmy headed back home, where he was surprised by Joanne with a ”welcome home” sign. Jimmy said, “Joanne made a huge difference in my life and put a huge smile on my face.”
Joanne’s airline, JetBlue, is dedicated to the mission of Make-A-Wish to, together, create live-changing wishes for children battling critical illnesses. Since 2012, through their TrueBlue loyalty points donations platform and the airline’s matching gifts, JetBlue has donated 23 million TrueBlue points to help make travel wishes possible.
