By referring a child for a wish, you are giving him or her a chance to experience life beyond illness. In fact, wishes have proven* physical and emotional benefits that can give children with critical illnesses a higher chance of recovery. It is therefore Make-A-Wish’s mission to grant every eligible child’s wish to give them the strength they need to fight critical illness.
After a child is referred for a wish, Make-A-Wish will work with the treating physician to determine the child's eligibility for a wish. A child can be referred by:
- A medical professional, such as a doctor, nurse, social worker or child-life specialist
- Child’s parents or legal guardians
- Potential wish kids themselves
- Family members with detailed knowledge of the child's current medical condition
You have the unique ability to transform a child and family’s life during some of their most difficult trials. REFER A CHILD TODAY
